Abraxas Business Services: Paula Charles

Paula has worked in a wide variety of capacities and industries during her career. She has held positions as CFO or SVP Finance for both startups and multi-national corporations, and has managed many successful merger and acquisition projects, both domestic and internationally.

She began her career with Deloitte & Touche, where she spent 11 years as a management consultant. She focused her consulting in a variety of industries including retail, distribution and manufacturing, assisting companies in strategy formulation, due diligence, systems implementation and reengineering efforts. While at Deloitte & Touche she co-authored a book titled "Financing Wholesale-Distribution in the 1990's". She has also worked in several companies leading their product development efforts and their strategy formulation in the US, South America and Europe.

Paula holds a masters degree in accountancy from the University of Texas, and B.S. in business administration from the University of Washington (emphasis in accounting). While in college, she obtained the following certificates: Certified Public Accountant(CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM). She is a licensed real estate agent in the State of Georgia.

Paula has lived abroad in Australia, the Netherlands, and Brazil and has travelled extensively.

She is the past chair of the Georgia Society of CPA Valuation Section, and she has previously served as the Treasurer and board member of The Board of Directors Network, as the Board President of The Samaritan House, and as a board member of the Buckhead Business Association. She is currently the Treasurer for Women in Finance Exchange.

Paula is and active speaker at universities and business organizations on business exit strategies and getting business transactions successfully closed. She also is a frequent speaker at organizations advising individuals in career transition on how to successfully purchase a business.
